Shamokin Dam - Sunbury Pipeline Pathway of Destruction

"Among the natural rights of the colonists are these: First a right to life, secondly to liberty,
and thirdly to property; together with the right to defend them in the best manner they can."
Samuel Adams

What are they afraid of anyway?

A luncheon was held on Friday, May 15, 2015 in Lewisburg. It was hosted by the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce, UGI Energy Services and The Gas Alliance. It was an hour of propaganda followed by ten minutes of Q&A.

I was struck by the over exuberance of many of the speakers. I wondered, why are they working so hard to convince us all that gas is such a good thing for our valley? Done properly, an improved gas infrastructure is a no brainer.

What are they afraid of anyway?

The problem is that these same people are more interested in cheap and expedient routes across our valley, than ones that use public land or existing right of ways. Just one look, you know that they are indifferent to the things that are important to us. They have been doing this so long, it is just clinical to them. They tell derogatory stories of angry land owners. They have a hardened mistrust for those who try to protect what is most dear to them. They tell stories of how their kids love to ride four wheelers up and down the pipeline right of ways in their town. Try it, you’ll like it.

They are skeptical of whether you had plans to build your dream home or retirement home on that treasured section of land. They feel that if you haven’t improved the property by now, then you obviously don’t want it.

Perhaps a ten minute propaganda presentation followed by an hour of open conversation would have served the Valley better.

What are they afraid of anyway?
